Established in 1990 as The Kingsleigh School Concert Band, we have been going strong ever since, evolving into a community band for everyone. In 2010, BADCB will be celebrating 20 years since the band formed.
The band performs regular concerts in and around the Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Ferndown and Wimborne area. We also attend Regional and National music festivals and have achieved notable success both regionally (collecting several gold medals at the annual Boosey and Hawkes National Concert Band Festival) and nationally, having represented our area in the National Festival Finals.
The band
rehearses for two hours each week and practices a wide and varied
repertoire. Recently played pieces
include our Festival pieces -
‘Eine Kleine Yiddische RagMusik’
‘Time Remembered’
‘New York’.
In the Summer, the band enjoys playing a lighter repertoire tailored to suit our outdoor performances at venues including Bournemouth, Christchurch and Swanage Band Stands.
The band also puts on larger, themed concerts. Recent concerts have included ‘Friday Night is 40s Night’, an evening of film music and 'The Sounds of the Sixties'. Our Autumn concert will focus on classic band music.
