Join us

We always love seeing new faces in the band. Here you’ll find details about our vacancies and how to join.

Looking to join a band? We have vacancies…

We have space across the band for new players, and we’re particularly looking for players in these sections:

  • Percussion – kit, timps and tuned/auxiliary percussionists
  • Brass – including the trumpet, euphonium, horn, tuba

If you play an instrument that’s not in this vacancies list, please do still get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to join

To join, you’ll need to be 14 years or over, play a wind instrument or drums/percussion, and be able to read music. We don’t ask for a specific grade but we recommend you’re around Grade 5 or equivalent and ideally you’ll have some band experience.

You’ll also need to be free on Thursday evenings to rehearse with us, from 7:30-9:30pm.

How to join and what to expect

We’re a really friendly, sociable and supportive band 🙂

To join the BDCB or see what we’re like, drop us an email to let us know you’re interested or to ask any questions.

If we’ve got space, you can come along to a rehearsal. You don’t have to sign up with us straight away. You can come to a few rehearsals before we ask you to decide whether you want to join. If you need more convincing, check us out on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

We have an expectation that band members attend rehearsals and concerts but we do also realise that people have jobs, holidays, family commitments, and that it isn’t always possible to attend.

We rehearse all year round except we usually take a break in the summer holidays.

When you officially join you’ll need to pay a yearly membership fee of £84 which you can pay annually or in termly installments if you prefer.
