Getting ready for our tour to Wales

We’re now just two weeks away from our tour to Wales, to Caerphilly.

Our new conductor Simon has hit the ground running and is working us hard to get us ready for our concerts there. We’ve played musical chairs (i.e. our seating plan has been rearranged!), we have some new players, and we are all getting very excited.

Why are we going on tour to Wales?

Band members in beach-themed fancy dress

Some band members in fancy dress when the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir came to Bournemouth in 2017

We’ve been invited to do a joint concert with the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir. We did a joint concert with them last year when they came on tour to Bournemouth. My uncle Dave sings in their choir, which is how we linked up in the first place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our joint gig with the choir last year. The associated social events were great too, which included attending the choir’s cabaret evening in “at the beach” fancy dress.

We’re performing two concerts

While in Wales we’ll be performing a joint concert with the choir at Bedwas Workmen’s Hall in Caerphilly at 7pm on Saturday 13 October. This will include some joint ventures. We promise to keep to time this year (having slightly over-programmed at our last joint concert!).

The band will then perform a lunch time concert at Caerphilly Castle at 12pm on Sunday 14 October.

Activities during the day

Band members have an assortment of activities planned for the Saturday, including visiting Cardiff Castle and trying out some indoor surfing. We’re all looking forward to seeing our friends in the choir again.

Watch this space for stories about our adventures!
