Join us
We always love seeing new faces in the band. Here you’ll find details about our vacancies and how to join.
Looking to join a band? We have vacancies…
We’re particularly looking for auxiliary percussion players and some brass players to join us.
If you play another instrument, please do still get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
What you need to join
To join, you’ll need to:
be 14 years or over
play a wind instrument or drums/percussion
be able to read music
and you’ll need to be free on Thursday evenings to rehearse with us, from 7:30-9:30pm
We don’t ask for a specific grade but we recommend you’re around Grade 5+ or equivalent, and ideally you’ll have some band experience.
How to join and what to expect
We’re a really friendly, sociable and supportive band.
To join BDCB or see what we’re like, drop us an email to let us know you’re interested or to ask any questions.
We may ask you to try us out at one of our rehearsals. You don’t have to sign up with us straight away. You can come to a few rehearsals before we ask you to decide whether you would like to join. If we don’t have space at the time, and you’d like to join, we’ll add you to our waiting list.
If you need more convincing about joining, check us out on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Rehearsals and concerts
We have an expectation that band members attend rehearsals and concerts but we do also realise that people have jobs, holidays, family commitments, and that it isn’t always possible to attend.
We rehearse all year round.
When you officially join you’ll need to pay a yearly membership fee of £90 which you can pay annually or in termly instalments if you prefer. Concessions pay £45 for the year.

Interested in our Bournemouth Daytime Community Band?
If you can’t commit to rehearsing every Thursday evening or you’d like to get a bit more experience playing with others, you might prefer our offshoot band – Bournemouth Daytime Community Band. We get together once a month to rehearse, and then take our music out into the community.
